Our time in Tanzania with Liz’s family was nothing short of breathtaking. Waking up early to be greeted by our kind, patient safari guide, Waziri, everyday, driving through the bush eager for encounters with animals thought only to be seen in zoos or one’s imagination, feeling the brisk air and dirt from the earth move through your hair and kiss your skin as you zoom down the roads in the jeep was a glimpse into a life thought deemed only for the luckiest–a glimpse into a dream.

We began our journey in Arusha. Liz’s mom had dreamed of seeing Mt. Kilimanjaro painted against the sky of a savannah landscape, so we had to stop to see the elusive giant. From there, we braved the small airplane white knuckled until we reached the Serengeti.
